The Old Fire House
Teen Center

We are a group of teens, parents, and community members dedicated to preserving the Old Fire House Teen Center, a vital community space for teens and a culturally historic part of the PNW music scene that is now facing permanent closure.

The Redmond Old Fire House Teen Center (or OFH) has served the community since the 90s, playing a key role in the early careers of many successful musicians and bands. Today the OFH has continued to provide a safe and unique community space for teens ages 13-18 from Redmond and surrounding communities. The OFH has been heavily relied upon by neurodivergent, LGBTQ, and at-risk youth. The OFH serves all teens regardless of economic status - free of charge, offering use of a full digital recording studio, performance stage, game room/lounge, and outdoor social area with a basketball court. For generations teens have thrived in this space, with opportunities for leadership, art and music lessons, and countless other valuable workshops. The OFH also continued to offer open mic and live performances and concerts - sadly the last show was March 21, 2025, and the City of Redmond has locked the doors without providing a valid-evidence based reason for the closure. Please look at our Facts and Timeline and our Events page for more details on the backwards and secretive decision making process the City of Redmond is engaging in.

Most importantly, this space is a place for teens by teens and is actually somewhere teens want to go. The City has not developed a sufficient replacement and, while stating the building is safe for occupancy, blames the age of the building on its swift decision to move teen "services" to the Community Center and "other municipal buildings," before creating any acceptable replacement or conducting a building inspection. The teens have been ignored by decision makers. We cannot let our elected officials bully our teens! Join us in advocating for its future and ensuring our teens have a safe and inclusive place where they can continue to thrive.

Community Importance

The Old Fire House Teen Center is a culturally historic space vital for local youth engagement and development, and its closure would severely impact our community's resources for teens.
